Core Committee of the True Buddha Foundation (TBF) held its routine meeting on November 4th and 5th of 2008 at the True Buddha Tantric Quarter in Seattle, Washington. All seven Department Heads attended the meeting.
The meeting chair, Acharya Lian Jie presented the meeting agenda followed by the review of meeting minutes of the September 2008 meeting and the TBF`s activities summary for the September and October of 2008.
Afterwards, each Department Head provided updates on their respective areas of responsibility:
Department of Finances first reported the balance sheet and income statement of the TBF, then reported the summary of worldwide sponsorship and donation for the Mandala of Kalachakra and Hevajra.
Department of Secretary reported that it is in the process of collecting all completed ``2008 questionnaires for all local chapters`` which will be used as a basis for continued recognition as a True Buddha School (TBS) local chapter.
Department of Public Relations reported the activities of True Buddha Translation Teams (TBTTs), knowledge management and the publishing plan for the English books.
Department of General Affairs reported the progress of office renovation.
Department of Dharma Activities reported on matters related to talent education and training and application of grants and financial assistance.
During the meeting, a list of potential Dharma Assistant candidates and all those to be considered for continued appointment were reviewed. The selection of examination topics and training programs for the coming semester was also discussed.
Next year`s Dharma Assistant examination will be held at the Ray Tseng Temples of these three countries, Taiwan, Seattle, Washington, USA and Indonesia. The dates for those countries are tentatively scheduled for May 16th, 2009 for Taiwan and the US and May 30th, 2009 for Indonesia
TBS is growing rapidly and the quality of all TBS staff is improving. TBF is actively involved in the selection and training of Dharma Assistants and urges our fellow dharma siblings to participate in the selection and continue to spread the True Buddha teachings.
The Core Committee also continued to review applications for renunciation worldwide and recognition of local chapters. They approved the application from Disapuei Chapter Committee, Wen De Jia Chapter, and Kua Hai Chapter in Malaysia, Fa Ming Chapter in Taiwan and Wan Ya Lao Chapter in Indonesia.
Lastly, the meeting minutes of the September 2008 were reviewed again and the Core Committee decided that notification letters will be sent out to all Acharyas and TBF members to thank everyone for their attendance and support. The Core Committee will review all suggestions and incorporate them into future operations.
A motion was made to discuss the date and agenda for next year`s Assembly of TBF and Acharya Conference. This date will be announced as early as possible to allow all Acharyas and TBF members to make travel plans accordingly and to partake in the meeting.
