Genuine Enlightenment is ``putting one`s words into actions``

2009-03-30
On Saturday, February 21st 2009, Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple in Seattle cordially invited the founder of True Buddha School, Living Buddha LianSheng and ShiMu, Acharya LianXiang, to the group cultivation of Padmasambhava Personal Deity Yoga. Together with the evening`s presiding Acharya, Acharya Shi LianSeng, Acharyas, Senior Reverends, Reverends, Dharma Instructors, Dharma Assistants, and TBS members from all over the world filled the temple to participate.

[Om bu lin], the practice thus ended auspiciously. Reverend LianJin started the first dharma talk. He pointed out that all obstacles one faces during cultivation are due to one`s egoism. However, with all the powerful doctrines that Grandmaster passed and His blessing, all obstacles can be eradicated. The presiding Acharya, Shi LianSeng gave his dharma talk after Reverend LianJin. He indicated that one must set objectives in the learning of Buddhism, such as being able to eliminate differentiation and getting rid of egoism. To help achieve spiritual progress and attainment of Buddhahood, one must co-exist with all sentient beings in this mundane world. As long as we follow the footsteps of our enlightened Grandmaster, Living Buddha LianSheng, we will walk the righteous path of cultivation without deviations.

Watching the live telecast of the practice on internet, millions of disciples around the globe joined in and listened to the much anticipated discourse by Grandmaster on the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch - Chapter 2, Prajna [Good intellects, maha-prajna-paramita is a Sanskrit term meaning ``the great wisdom reaching to the other shore.`` It must be practiced from the heart and not merely recited. Prajna, only recited but not practiced from the heart, is like an illusion, a mirage, a dewdrop, or lightning. By doing both, our hearts will be in mutual accord with our speeches.] Thus, in order to `reach the other shore`, one will need to practice from his/her heart not just reciting the sutras. Only when your heart and speech are consistent will you see signs of response. `Sutra of the Questions of Visesa-cinti-brahma` (思益經) records, those who understand that all Dharmas are equal will reach the other shore. All humans, whether good or bad, help us in our cultivation. A bad situation spurs on our will power, and sentient beings contribute the means to our merits and virtues. Nothing belongs to us in the end. Those enlightened will not be tempted by greed because they know nothing belongs to them. They will not hate because they are care free. They will not be ignorant because they know all truths in the world and have no attachments. The advantage of enlightenment is the accumulation of means to help all sentient beings.

Grandmaster hopes that everybody can grasp this: Under what circumstances will a `fur dropping` tiger and a dog be equal? Those who are unbiased will `reach the opposite shore`; those who do not comprehend will live in the turmoil of emotions. Feelings of love is the by product of temporary chemical reactions in our body; they are not permanent. Hate is also temporary, and it will diminish with time. When you are enlightened, you live free from greed, hate and ignorance. By carrying out enlightenment, you will attain Buddhahood. As TBS disciples, we are indeed fortunate to have our Grandmaster Living Buddha LianSheng to guide us towards this great path to enlightenment!
