The Secrets Of Dharma Protectors |
An oral teaching given by the Grandmaster at the Lei Tzang Temple (U.S.) on 20/02/94
As I did not intend to give a speech today, I do not have any reference material with me. I am going to tell you something from the bottom of my heart. (applause)
As I am leading a secluded life now, my duty is to conduct the one and only \`Precious Vase Breathing method\` empowerment. In fact, I just came to know there will be a video taping session. As my precious talk on the same topic was tape-recorded, I thought you could just purchase those tapes. What I mean is I do not want to conduct any ritual, nor do I want to give a discourse. These jobs should be done by my disciples, not me. I did not expect to be even more busy now (applause). I thought the discourse should be given by other gurus, I did not know I have to do it (laughter, applause). I am tricked into this again, last night I was not supposed to talk, tonight I am not supposed to talk. It is not very fair to see all the gurus relaxing there! (applause) Of course all of you will be enlightened, I do not know whether you are happy or otherwise. (applause)
Do you know what saddens me lately? I indulged myself in painting, wherever I was free I did some painting. Coming to the temple, I went to my office to see how was the sales of my painting book. There are still so many in stock! (laughter) That is the reason why I am not in the mood to give any discourse today. (laughter) There are still many left behind If sales had been excellent, there would not have been so many around!
My spirit is embodied in each and every piece of my paintings, I hope all of you will buy for yourselves, better still buy and give them away. (applause) I hope tomorrow all the remaining books of my paintings would be sold off. (laughter and applause)
I prefer to chat with you. I don`t feel melancholic, in fact I am happier this way. Tonight I want to talk about my insight on spiritual cultivation.
Tonight, I want to talk about protectors, the importance of spiritual protectors. As a student, my teacher did not consider me a model student. But in my heart I am always respectful to my teacher. In fact, some teachers are very strict with their students, although they love their students very much. But as you know there are so many rumours around, and some of these came to the knowledge of my teacher. Although I respect my teacher, the rumours affected the relationship between us. Fortunately many dharma protectors came to my rescue whenever my teacher was mad at me. I remembered once I went to pay respect to my teacher. He had prepared a lengthy speech to discipline me, before dismissing me as a disciple. He was waiting for me to come.
I mentioned it before. The night before I went to see my teacher, a dharma protector appeared in the air and told my teacher: \`You cannot scold Master Lu Sheng Yen.\` This was true. The second day when I went to see my teacher, he told me: \`I wanted to scold you today. But somehow, last night a dharma protector told me not to scold you in my dream. You are thus saved, otherwise as I had wanted to expel you from our school.\` On another occasion, as I told you last night, my teacher was not very happy with me. But he dreamed that I took him to the realm of heaven, and he became very excited after seeing those fairies. As he was very happy, he presented me with `Five Buddhas Empowerment` - the highest form of empowerment.
There was another time when I went to pay respect to him. I knelt down to receive his empowerment. When he used his hands to empower me, a disciple of mine took a picture. When the negative was developed, my teacher was shocked. His hands were touching the air. I was not in the photograph. There was only a dragon waist coast left - the one I am wearing now. (applause) My whole body had disappeared. He was very mad at me when I went to see him. After seeing the photograph, he said: \`You must have mastered the Marichi disappearance dharma\`. I know Marichi is the dharma protector of all the Japanese Ninja. He likes to mount on twelve golden pigs and parade under the sun. Do you know what is a Ninja? Those Japanese Samurai that worship Marichi. I am not a Ninja, (in Chinese it means a person capable of endurance) although sometime I have to endure a while before going to the toilet. (laughter) You know the empowerment ritual in Taiwan can be as long as three to four hours, so far I had to stop the empowerment and go to the loo once. I told those standing behind me \`I must stop the empowerment process and go to the loo\`. Once I stopped, there was a commotion: \`Something happened, Grandmaster was carried away.\` (laughter) Ten minutes later, I reappeared. They said: \`Here he comes\`. (laughter) I have been such a Ninja, not the Japanese kind.
I knew about the Mantra, Mudra and Yantra of Marichi. But I never cultivated the dharma. My protectors were helping me. When I bowed to my teacher, they knew my teacher`s thought. They wanted to show my teacher that I have mastered the Vajra chain. They pulled out the Vajra chain from my body and used it to cover my body, which was why my body disappeared in the photograph. The disappearing act was done by my protectors.
Later on I came to know that actually my teacher wanted to empower me. How could I do a disappearing act? The dragon waist coat should be very valuable as it was empowered by my teacher! (laughter) That was what happened. When my teacher saw the photograph, he did not say a word. He did not scold me either.
In fact I read about an article written by one of my Sutrayana teachers. I flew to his place at night, and I saw what he wrote about me, I knew I could not stop him. The article soon appeared in the newspaper. In fact, he wrote three long articles to scold me, but I could not rebuke, as he was my teacher.
It is a fashion to betray your teacher now. But I Master Lu Sheng Yen will never go against my parents and my teachers (applause). Your life is from your parents, and your wisdom is from your teachers. As a human being we must show our gratification, otherwise we are not fit to be human. (applause) Even if he only taught me a little, he is still my teacher. He is entitled to beat me, to scold me. I am such a person. When I flew to see him, my teacher was reviewing the two articles he wrote. My protectors told him: \`Master Lu Sheng Yen did nothing wrong to you. He made offering to you. He respected you. How can you write such article after hearing some rumours?\`. By virtue of the protectors` influence, he threw away the remaining two articles. I was very glad that he threw them away. It was my protector who did me a favour.
My protectors support me whole-heartedly. (applause) I have the utmost respect for my protectors. (applause). Just like how I respect my teachers. On the other hand, I am quite relaxed with my disciples, although I follow certain principles when I ask them for help. I only give that person one opportunity. If he or she did not seize it, there won`t be a second chance. This principle has been in my mind, although I did not say it out. In other words, when I summon you to help other sentient beings, I will give you one chance. If you reject my offer, you will not be given any more chances, as I stand firm on this matter.
I want to tell you a simple fact. Lately I want Guru Lian Miao to propagate the dharma, as I found her to be very capable. She did a good job as a director of Lei Tsang Temple. She has been good at public relations, learning the dharma and carrying out her work. I hoped she would become a guru, but unfortunately, she rejected my offer! The first time I talked to her, she rejected me outright. My unwritten principle is that everybody should be given a chance, and if the offer is rejected, then let the offer lapse. But the truth is she actually rejected my offer three times. Why did she time and again refuse to put on the robe of a guru? I think she wants to look pretty. OK, despite her rejections, I told myself, I will still talk to her until the deadline set by me,i.e. the commencement of this ritual. After which the window of opportunity will close forever, and I will not assimilate her to be a guru in our school in future.
But I was not satisfied, to me nothing is impossible! To Master Lu Sheng Yen, everything is possible! As I have accomplished most of my wishes, I feel that nothing is impossible (applause). Well, then I will conduct a special ritual to this end (applause). Sorry to tell the truth, I have done the special ritual twice. This ritual is not sorcery, I was asking my protector for help. Taking out the `Three-sided-single-armed Vajra` given by my teacher - which contains the lineal secret mantra, I started chanting the secret mantra. I invoked all the patriarchs of yellow sect, my root guru, then I put the vajra in the air. I embodied Planet Earth into the spectacular Vajra, then I continued with my mantra chanting. This morning I did the \`Four vertical and Five horizontal\` Mudra \`Lin, Bing, Dou, Zhe, Jie, Zhen, Lie, Zhai, Jian\`. I visualized her on the surface of the Earth, and wrote the nine syllable mantra on her face, then I said the decree: \`I am giving the decree, I am ordering you now, you must accept the post of a guru, you must accept.\` I used the nine syllable mantra to change her mind, from no to yes.
Sometime, when a woman says \`No.\` She actually means \`Yes\`. (applause) But you must listen to her voice! Her pitch can be high or low, if you ask her for a dinner appointment. She might say \`no\` (Grandmaster said it softly) (laughter, applause) This is affirmative and not rejection, you must listen carefully! Because a woman will seldom say yes in the first instance (laughter). You must listen to her voice, the ending tone. If it is very soft, then the \`no\` means \`yes\`. She can`t show how excited she is, am I right?
But Lian Miao`s rejection was very firm. After my first ritual, my wife talked to her, asking her to come forward and help the school, but she rejected. She made it very clear that she was not willing. Not the soft type of \`No\`- an affirmative \`No\`.
I thought of giving her one chance only, not second chances. After conducting one ritual for this purpose, the result was normal, and there was no improvement. As the date of the ritual was closing in now, so I did the second ritual for this purpose, likewise I formed the mudra of \`Lin, Bing, Dou, Zhe, Jie, Zhen, Lie, Zhai, Jian\`. Alas! suddenly I saw the face of a protector appearing in the air. He was not serious at all, and was smiling to me. I exclaimed: \`The job is done!\`.
One afternoon she went upstairs to look at the paintings I placed in the cupboard. She did not say anything . As I happened to be there too, she walked pass me and say \`there is a favorable turn\`.
I said that is enough, a turn for the better, she will don the guru`s costume now. This is the fine work of the protector. (applause) Once she put on the costume of a guru, many witnesses will not give allowance for to take it off. And she has to work hard and not be upset by criticism. (applause)
Who helped me settle the lawsuit in Taiwan? There are too many to mention. Among them are the lawyer, dharma sister Lin Yu Zhen, not to forget the board of directors and many others who helped in one way or another. Promise me not to tell the public prosecutor and I will tell you the truth. I have conducted three rounds of ritual on him. If there is no prosecution, the case will be closed immediately. With the help of these protectors, the three rounds of ritual will be very powerful.
I mentioned about treating the protectors with wine in this morning`s homa session. As they have to shuttle between Seattle and Taipei many times, they will be tired in due course. The protector went to Taipei to see how the verdict was written. Upon his return, he told me: \`The case will be over by 23rd.\`
I told my wife about this, who told Dharma sister Lin Yu Zhen, who told many other people. Eventually, everybody, including the lawyer heard the news. Frankly speaking, I knew the outcome of the case one month earlier. That is the reason why I dare to fly from Hong kong to Taipei on 29th, although I have not received any official news. I was urged to return to Taiwan by my protector. (applause) The official notification which was dated on 23rd - not one day earlier nor one day later, was only received on 30th.
As you know, the public prosecutor is a very busy man who has to handle so many cases at any one time. Probably he can`t even recall where he put my file. The protector told him to bring his briefcase home, and go on leave the following day. I supposed that was how my file surfaced. Then somehow he took the file out to read, and decided that the case against Lu Sheng Yen should be dismissed. And he wrote his verdict on the very day - 23rd. He had a sudden inspiration to close the case on that very day.
Seattle`s TV forecasted that there will be rain from Monday to Sunday. What can we do? What would happen if it was really raining yesterday? This morning, there was heavy pour at Rainbow Villa. In fact my wife told me: \`According to weather forecast, there will be rain everywhere!\` In fact, she told me before the ritual: \`We must spend $5,000 to erect a tent, we must fork out this expense.\`
My reply was: \`It is not necessary, I will talk to the dragon god, I will ask him a favor .\`
The Dragon god is one of my protectors.
Those who are close to me know this is how I pray whenever I went to Lei Tsang Temple. I prayed to the Jade Pond Golden Mother, then I prayed here, then I went there to pray, followed by Heaven and Earth, Dragon god, Virtue Hall. I always lit seven sticks of incense. Alas, I only mentioned six of them (laughter) and I missed out Medicine Buddha. I need seven sticks of incense as there are seven urns altogether.
Whenever I paid homage to the dragon god, he would welcome me personally.(applause) The same cannot say to be true for Buddhas and Bodhisattva such as Medicine Buddha, Golden Mother Of The Jade Pond, Amitabha, Avalokitesvara, and Ksitigarbha. They did not welcome me.
Since he was waiting for me, I prayed to him. I asked him not to rain on the days when ritual will be held and homa will be carried out at the Rainbow Villa. I told him once the fire is dampened by the water, I am also finished! (laughter). How can I conduct the homa ritual, when there is heavy rain? I asked him to grant my wish so as to save my face!
Sometime the weather report is not very accurate. Yesterday, the weather was fine for the whole day. This morning the eastern side of Rainbow Villa was snowing; and the western side was raining heavily. The only spot that was sunny was Rainbow Villa itself. (applause) This is the work of the dharma protector. I have good relationship with the Dragon Gods. In fact I am wearing them on my attire. They protect me all the time.
There is a rumour circulating lately. I am not the one spreading it. Since September there was no rain in Taiwan, all the reservoirs are drying up. There was lawsuit filed against me in Taiwan starting from September until February. Come to think of it now......... (laughter). Many people believe the drought flood was a result of the lawsuit. I told them not to believe it, as I am not virtuous enough to have caused a drought in Taiwan. Other people may claim the ability to stop earthquake from happening, I dare not say so. Without any physical evidence, I have nothing to do with the dry spell. I sincerely declare that it is not true, it is just a rumour. It`s time rain should fall in Taiwan now! (applause). Now that the lawsuit has come to an end. It should rain now. I told the dragon god: \`Ah, please spare those living in Taiwan! Please forgive them!\` (laughter, applause)
In fact, you can influence the weather whenever the protector is with you. To cite an example, I did not know the site at North Bend where Rainbow Villa is situated has such a strong wind in winter, when I first visited the place. The strong wind has caused all the trees tilting against the wind.
Even my wife commented on my choice. \`Why did you choose such a windy place to build Rainbow Villa?\` Guru Li Huai also commented in October \`It is a place for the ghost to stay! (laughter)\` \`It`s so windy, so frightening!\` she added. Even person of her size, as solid as a rock, is afraid of the wind. (laughter) not to mention others. Dharma master Xiao Guan told me that \`I find it hard to move\`. Wow, a tall person like him still has to stoop and walk like an ostrich when the wind started to blow. He bent his head between his two legs and walked this way (Grandmaster demonstrated amid audience`s laughter). The wind is super - Rainbow Villa has super wind. (laughter). Dharma master Xiao Guan had to repair the retaining walls twice as they were damaged by the mighty wind. Even the roof tiles were not spared the beating. The three flag posts erected there were without any national flags, as all of them were torn by the gusty and frightening wind.
Dharma sister Cai, dharma master Xiao Guan and now Dharma master Lian Yun live there. The villa would become very eerie, once two of them live out. If you are alone, you can hear the ghost howling - Xiu, xiu...
It is OK to me. I told dharma master Xiao Guan to carry out a homa ritual, inviting all the gods from the water heaven, fire heaven, wind heaven, and earth heaven to come for a feast. I always prayed to them, particularly the god from wind heaven, asking him to do me a favor by changing his course. I try to cut a deal with him (laughter). In the homa rituals, I always invited them to protect my shrine, offered them meals, nice wine and communicate with them. As I have made offering to them umpteen times, I make them feel uneasy when we meet, if they don`t reciprocate. In fact I carried out many rounds of homa asking the strong wind to divert. Dharma master Xiao Guan also did the same ritual many times last year.
A strange thing happened this year. The wind was not strong at all in the whole winter. (applause) Isn`t this fascinating! Getting used to howling sound, I did not sleep well lately when the wind subsided. Without the strong wind, I felt lonely, as if something is missing.
All of you know I like to joke. I put a seven-star flag in Rainbow Villa to subdue the wind. I did not mean to subdue them, I just hoped that the wind god changed his course. If the strong wind can change its direction, can`t we influence the weather? (summon the wind and rain in Chinese language) (applause)
Respecting all my protectors, I invoke them and pay respect to them whenever I eat. I invite them wherever I go.
The dharma protectors help me in many ways. For instance I talked about unable to sleep lately as there was no wind at all. Actually I slept well, as I had hung a photograph of my protector on top of my bed.
In the True Buddha Tantric Garden, a tangka was placed on top of my bed too. In Yuling lake, I have a
protector`s photograph on top of my bed . Another photograph of my protector is also placed in my office at the Rainbow Villa. Every night, before I go to bed, I simply cup my palms and ask my protector to help me. As it is as quiet as tonight, I was able to sleep soundly. When I wake up in the morning, immediately I cup my palms to thank the protector for my sound sleep.
You must have a good relationship with your protector, so that he will be with you and protect you all the time. You must make offerings to him before you take your meal. I told you before when I went to the supermarket such as Q.F.C. I always let them have a free meal! I really said so, and it was not a joke. I clapped my hands to invoke them, so that they will descend. I flipped my finger to awake them from their sleep. They were so happy to hear about the free meal. Like a gust of wind, they zipped pass the auto-door. The security guards were dumbfounded when nobody passed through and yet the doors swing open and then closed by itself.
You know Q.F.C. and Safeway have many trolleys. I always tell my wife: \`Here they come! all the protectors.\` As my wife could not feel, she could not detect them. I am different. Whenever they come, they signaled to me. I can see them moving and eating the items.
The spirits of protectors follow me closely. Whenever I will for something, they will come to know. As a cultivator, you must attain this level of achievement. You must remember, you must not be separated from your protector even for a short while. If you are able to maintain this relationship with your protector you will feel very happy. As a master you will feel delighted, although I should not call them as a servant. If we respect them whole-heartedly, they will reciprocate and treat us well. The friendship must be unsurpassed.
Whenever I am practising Vajra boxing in the morning, I am able to tell the name of my protector in attendance from the pattern I formed. I know it was Avalokitesvara with thousand arms and eyes. Sometimes, I have to stretch like this. Wow it is not the Niu Mo Wang (The Bull devil king from the Chinese folklore) (laughter). It is Yamantaka, who showed me certain posture. My protectors never leave me alone, in fact they take turns to look after me. On hearing my command, they will appear at once. (applause)
Dharma master Xiao Guan was playing - not gambling - with a dice on Chinese new year eve. I asked him to be the banker, as I wanted to bet with him.- All of you are sure to lose your pants if you played against me. (laughter and applause)
Everybody would like to have some fun on the New Year Eve. Shaking the dice, Xiao Guan placed it on the table. I looked into the air, and there I saw my protector using the water sprout of the fountain to form a word - `Big`. Wow I must put my stake on \`Big\` (laughter, and applause). I took out one hundred dollars and bet on the result to be \`Big\`. Xiao Guan looked dazed when he opened the dice-cover - - really it was \`Big\`. So I won US$ 100 . I felt bad winning his money. Again he shook the dice and placed it on the table. By means of the water sprout, my protector again asked me to stake on \`Big\`. Chang Zhi was sitting next to me, (Grandmaster showed the sign of \`Big\`, and assured him he was sure to win). I even used my finger to write the character \`Big\`. Although Chang Zhi saw my sign, he did not dare to bet (laughter). All of you know, he is a very stingy character (laughter and applause). Moreover, he did not have any confidence in me (laughter). If he lost the bet, he would not be able to sleep for days. As he did not bet, I asked Xiao Guan to open the cover, and the dice`s number was really \`Big\`. By the way, the numbers 4, 5, and 6 are considered \`Big\`, and the rest are \`small\`.
This was the second time I guessed correctly. I told the rest of them I could predict the number correctly as my protector helped me with the number. Xiao Guan continued to shake the dice as Lian Den indicated he wanted to play also. - about 30 of us (including many gurus) gathered there for the Chinese New Year Reunion dinner. My protector signaled \`small\` this time. And I heard Lian Den said \`I will bet on big\` (laughter). Before the cover was opened, I asked Xiao Guan to collect the money (laughter), as Lian Den had lost his bet. I was absolutely right, when the cover of the dice was opened. As he bet verbally and did not put the money on the table, Dharma sister Shu Lin took his money and gave it to Xiao Guan at once. Xiao Guan was surprised by the act and asked: \`Why in such a hurry?\` She replied: \`Debt must be settled before the Chinese New Year (laughter)\`. Dharma sister Shu Lin - Guru Lian Miao was smart to have said that as unsettled debt will bring three years bad luck\`.
The game then resumed. This time I was indicated to bet on \`small\`. When Lian Den said \`I bet on small\` I asked Xian Guan to return him the money. When the cover was removed, the dice`s number was really small.
Why is the prediction so accurate? It`s the work of the protector. I am telling you the truth. I have seen water sprouts from the fountain forming into words with my own eyes. (applause)
I am not a gambler, nor am I operating a casino, you may ask me why do I keep the dice, and its cover?
They are there to test my psychic power. I did not shake the number, I just guessed the number. How do I do it? I just will the number. (applause) Shaking the number this way (Grandmaster demonstrated how the dice was being shaken), I just will the number that will appear. If I will the number to be one, so it will be one; if I will the number to be six, the number will be six.
There is an amulet for this purpose. In fact many people have asked for it. (laughter)
Shaking the dice,
Predicting the number,
By sheer will,
The number just appears.
How is this done?
It is the protector who used his hand to fix whatever number I called.
That is why I always advise you not to gamble. There are many ghosts in the casino, in the gambling equipment used. It is not a matter of how skillful you are. The forceful and tenacious ghosts will bully you especially when you are out of luck. No matter how the dices are shaken, how you bet, you are sure to lose, unless you enshrine a ghost that is stronger that that of the casino`s . As the saying goes: \`Only a ghost can defeat a ghost\`. (laughter)
If you are in luck, a strong ghost will follow you and help you in the casino. But most of the gamblers are accompanied by unlucky ghosts, no wonder they are doomed to lose. The ghosts can influence the numbers. If you really have to gamble, then you better ask Grandmaster to go with you. (applause and laughter) Alas! It is better not to make such statement, as Tantric cultivators, we should not indulge in gambling. We may be permitted to gamble once a while for the fun of it. Better forget about making it as a living, or raising fund for the construction of Lei Tsang Temple.
Some even promised: \`If I win, one third of the money will be given to the Grandmaster for charity\`.
I do not accept such donation. It is better not to frequent the casino. These examples are quoted to stress the importance of having spiritual protectors. (applause)
As cultivators, we know our root guru is the source we receive our empowerment. He will have the ability to energise us. The higher the standard of our cultivation, the more power we will be able to obtain from him. Our root deity is the objective of our future achievement. If we worship Avalokitesvara, we will be enlightened as Avalokitesvara; and if we cultivate Amitabha Buddha, we will be future Amitabha Buddha.
And our protector will be the enabler of our endeavour, he will be the one helping us in our propagation work.
As True Buddha School has many dharma protectors, many people come to learn its tantra. (applause)
These protectors surround me and listen to my instructions. They help me whenever I need them, as I have very high regard for them. Your protector will follow you and become a Buddha when you are enlightened in the future. Many of my disciples have realized and can attest to the importance of dharma protectors. Whenever you set up a shrine, the protector will help you whether you are giving a sermon, carrying out a ritual, or conducting a homa. Before and after a prolonged spiritual retreat, we must ask them for help. This is particularly important if we are conducting a homa, we must erect a special shrine dedicated to him The four deva kings have vowed to protect and support the True Buddha School, they are our best protectors, therefore we must make offering to them before we go into prolonged spiritual retreat.
By so doing, no evil will come to distract us, and our aim of retreat will be achieved. Even when we are chanting Mantra, reciting a Buddha name, or leaving our home, we must make offering to them.
Acala and the Vajra-ruler who controls unclean places are some of the other protectors you may want to make offering to. I am telling you a secret now. Hui Ji, vajra-ruler who controls unclean places, is a very unique dharma protector. Like Mahakala, whenever he comes and goes, you will know - it`s not nice to mention - although I am not sure he will feel offended if I divulged his secret (applause). As his Chinese name implied, he likes filthy things very much. So when he is around, you will have to visit the toilet frequently. If normally you go twice a day, you will have to go four times instead. Although you have no stomach ache, you somehow have to go. What if you are really busy, or you are in the company of many others, a fart will do. He will make sure you let go the air automatically. This is how he shows his presence. None of you will dream of this, I am telling you now, even other past patriarchs of Tantrayana did not know of this secret. I am the only one who knows. (applause)
You may probably hear the name of six-arm Mahakala before. He is the embodiment of Avalokitesvara.
There will be hails when he comes. If fact he helped me a lot, he prolonged my life, strengthened my health, and fulfilled my wish. I have the highest regard for the white six-arm-Mahakala, who has been using his power not only to help me financially but also on my salvation work .
Yamantaka is now my chief dharma protector (applause). He came to protect and support me.
The great aunt from L.A.- she will take offense on this term, maybe I should call her dharma sister Gao (high) - sitting right on top (laughter). Regardless of high or low, after all she suddenly came to Seattle Lei Tsang Temple to sell her tangkas. Maybe she wanted her business to thrive, she decided to present one of the tangka to me. It was the tangka of Yamantaka. On the day I received the tangka, both of us made vows. He vowed to protect and support me until I am enlightened as a Buddha. That is to enter into Nirvana. I also vowed not to leave him, and will always respect him for his support.
Yamantaka, known to be fearless, is the biggest protector in Yellow sect (Gelugpa ). In fact, he was the
protector of Patriarch Je Tsongkapa (applause). And he is now my chief protector (applause). He will protect and support me wherever I go. My progress in propagation and in changing human minds must be credited to my protectors. (applause)
I hope all of you will pay respect to your protector.
In other words, you must choose one of the protectors from your sacred shrine, and make offering to him whenever you take your meal. Better still, let the protector show himself to you, telling you he wants to
protect you and accompany you. You must show respect to him, treat him as your inseparable buddy.
Having a protector will be beneficial in your dharma propagation and cultivation. You will not be troubled by all the external harassment caused by all kinds of evil spirits. This is an important point.
You must always remember these three important aspects:
Root guru is the root of your empowerment.
Root Personal deity is the objective of your achievement.
And Root dharma protector is the enabler of all your endeavours.
By so doing, you will make great progress in your spiritual cultivation in Tantrayana. (applause)
